Ignore It and it Will Go Away

The hyperventilating hysteria being exhibited by the left to the soon to be aired "Path to 9/11" is really not difficult to explain. This docudrama exposes for all to see the past and CURRENT mindset of liberals in this country. First that bin Laden, al-Qaeda, and terrorist in general are worthy of concern but NOT a major threat. Secondly there is not nor should there be a "War on Terror" but rather a concerted police action best pursued through the legal system. And lastly that the threat from world terrorism is being overblown by the right. That 9-11 was an isolated incident and we should better be spending our time and effort on more pressing concerns.

Regardless of what they say this is actually what the vast majority on the left truly believe. In reality, the rise of radical Islam and the threat it poses to our very existence is the single most ominous issue of our time. Bush knows it, most on on the right know it, even some on the left know it. One needs no high degree of prescience to reach this conclusion as it has been evidenced on multiple occasions capped off by 9-11.

One wonders if the Democrats were the party who most Americans felt were the stronger on terror would they feel the same; My suspician, they would. As "The Path To 9-11" illustrates, Clinton had ample evidence as to the seriousness of he threat yet he chose to minimize it's significance. It's almost as though many on the left believe the less credence we give to the terrorist threat the more minimal the consequences of it.

They accuse Bush of expedience for politicizing the war on terror. Bush's history in office indicates the opposite. It wouldn't make any difference if it was a political winner for Bush or not. He truly believes as many us us do that all else pales in comparison to this monumental task. Who knows what the left is actually thinking as the only thing they say with conviction is "Bush is bad, we can do better". Are they really saying no action is better than bad action?

My fervent hope is that I'm wrong and this is all politically motivated, that liberals really know as we do that the threat of global terrorism is every bit as meaningful and consequential as tat posed by Hitler. However, If I'm correct about the left and the Democrats take over in 06...... may God help us.
