After all is said and done it looks as though the original "17" blogs of which we are # 4 0n the list will remain exiled forever.
Excuses from the government for the move were all over the board. First we were a vehicle by which the terrorists were transmitting communication between each other, then we were inciting violence with our "doctrine of hate", Now we are categorized as just "highly offensive" to the Indian Muslim community and hence must be silenced in the name of cultural harmony.
This action by the Indian government is as inefficacious as it is transparent, to pander to a group in their society that has them scared sh!tless in the misguided belief that little gestures like this will mollify these people. In their minds it also has the added benefit of portraying them as "doing something" about the Mumbai bombings. Just how stupid do they think you all are?
This story has been global in it's scope. Personally I came across at least two dozen major stories ranging in origin from Scandinavia to the Gulf region, France to Australia you name it, and they weren't complimentary. Unfortunately this entire affair will leave a mark. In a decrepit attempt at political correctness they have succeeded in portraying themselves as weak kneed hypocrits who would sacrifice your hard earned liberties for a false serenity. Make no mistake, the world did notice.
If no Indian ever had the opportunity to read this blog it would not change his or her life a wit. What I say has little significance to my wife let alone India or the world, that's not the point. The principal of free and unfettered access to information is crucial to all, especially those in a functioning democracy.
Just how far will the government go in it's quest for concordance? Who knows, but the line has been crossed and you as a nation are the worse for it.
