Say What?

$250,000, $200,000, $150,000, $120,000 WTF???
RUSH: This is hilarious now. As you know we have chronicled Obama's ceiling on tax increases -- I should say the floor, whatever. That number is 250K a year, and it goes down to 150 if you listen to Biden. By the way, they have sent Biden to the back waters on the campaign. Biden, you can't find him out there. He's in states, but you don't know where he's going. He's in Delaware. He's in a lot of other places out there, and they have enforced the teleprompter on him. They have enforced the teleprompter. I knew he would be the gift that kept on giving. Steven Greenhouse here in the New York Times. "For Incomes Below $100,000, a Better Tax Break in Obama's Plan. "The center left Tax Policy Center in this story tries to help out the Obama campaign. They say that...

Now, get this. We've all heard Obama talk about a tax cut if you make less than $250,000. They say in the New York Times story today, "When Obama says he'll cut taxes on families $150,000 or less, that part is true," and this is in the New York Times! They're essentially calling him a liar. Not totally because anybody making less than a 150, I mean it's pretty true, Obama's plan is pretty true. This story ought to be called, "The Incredible Shrinking Obama Tax Cut," but the dirty little secret is once again, ladies and gentlemen, there will be no tax cut for anybody. The Bush tax cuts of 2001-2003 expire in 2010. Everybody's tax rates are going up to the Clinton levels in the nineties, and if you're not paying income taxes -- and about 40% of Americans aren't -- how can you get a tax cut? How can you get an income tax cut?

MIT Off the Reservation

What? Global warming not anthropogenic but rather natural? BLASPHEMERS!!!
Boston (MA) - Scientists at MIT have recorded a nearly simultaneous world-wide increase in methane levels. This is the first increase in ten years, and what baffles science is that this data contradicts theories stating man is the primary source of increase for this greenhouse gas. It takes about one full year for gases generated in the highly industrial northern hemisphere to cycle through and reach the southern hemisphere. However, since all worldwide levels rose simultaneously throughout the same year, it is now believed this may be part of a natural cycle in mother nature - and not the direct result of man's contributions.

Methane - powerful greenhouse gas

The two lead authors of a paper published in this week's Geophysical Review Letters, Matthew Rigby and Ronald Prinn, the TEPCO Professor of Atmospheric Chemistry in MIT's Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Science, state that as a result of the increase, several million tons of new methane is present in the atmosphere.

Routine? Hardly

Checks on 'Joe' more extensive than first acknowledged
A state agency has revealed that its checks of computer systems for potential information on "Joe the Plumber" were more extensive than it first acknowledged.
Helen Jones-Kelley, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, disclosed today that computer inquiries on Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher were not restricted to a child-support system.

The agency also checked Wurzelbacher in its computer systems to determine whether he was receiving welfare assistance or owed unemployment compensation taxes, she wrote.

Jones-Kelley made the revelations in a letter to Ohio Senate President Bill M. Harris, R-Ashland, who demanded answers on why state officials checked out Wurzelbacher.

What is the L.A. Times Hiding?

Damn good question. They have always espoused giving "free and full information and let the people decide".Well now thare are stonewalling in an apparent attempt to protect the chosen one. All anyone of right mind asks is for them to be forthright AND consistent.....
I don't think it's entirely necessary for me to explain, once again, why I believe that Rashid Khalidi is not a danger to the Republic. I also don't think I have to rehearse the controversial idea that Barack Obama was not, in fact, the Hyde Park chapter president of the PFLP-GC. (That was Rahm Emanuel.) But there's a video out there of Obama saying kind things about Khalidi, and on the general principle that information in an open society shouldn't be kept secret and that the voters should make up their own minds about whether or not they trust certain candidates, this video should be set free. But a pro-censorship organization called the Los Angeles Times, which has the tape in its possession, is hiding it, for reasons it won't fully explain. And it's looking more and more ridiculous each passing day.

I understand that the tape was leaked to the Times by a source or sources unknown, and that an agreement was struck with that source to keep the tape hidden, but the tape has been described in a Times story already, and it quite obviously contains no state secrets. I also suspect that the tape could be posted in such a way as to obscure its origins. The Times, however, won't discuss in detail why it's keeping the tape from its readers, and the newspaper's "readers' representative," Jamie Gold, has lined up against the readers, and argued against the release of the tape.

'Utterly Immature'

French President Nicolas Sarkozy is very critical of U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama's positions on Iran, according to reports that have reached Israel's government.

Sarkozy has made his criticisms only in closed forums in France. But according to a senior Israeli government source, the reports reaching Israel indicate that Sarkozy views the Democratic candidate's stance on Iran as "utterly immature" and comprised of "formulations empty of all content."

Obama visited Paris in July, and the Iranian issue was at the heart of his meeting with Sarkozy. At a joint press conference afterward, Obama urged Iran to accept the West's proposal on its nuclear program, saying that Iran was creating a serious situation that endangered both Israel and the West.
Obama responded by saying "I'm rubber and you're glue, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you"!

Gasoline Prices in Steepest Plunge Ever

The average retail price for a gallon of gasoline in the United States plunged more steeply than ever over the last two weeks as the economic slowdown weighed on crude oil and drove consumers off of the roads, according to the latest nationwide Lundberg survey. Prices will likely slide more, but at a slower pace, following the "extraordinary" decline this month, survey editor Trilby Lundberg said on Sunday. The national average price for a gallon of self-serve, regular unleaded gas was $2.7785 on October 24, a decline of about 53 cents per gallon in the past two weeks

Piper, Please Don’t Drop Him

This little snippet of horesh!t from Kathy Deveny of Newsweak...
I'm still a little obsessed with the Sarah Palin's family. I'm most interested in 7-year-old Piper Palin and the way she treats her baby brother, Trig. I thought her attempt to spit-smooth his hair at the Republican convention was cute as kittens, of course. But I'm riveted every time I see Piper holding the baby—at the convention, at the vice-presidential debate and most recently at an ice-cream shop in Colorado where she was lugging the little guy around in one of those heavy car-seat carriers. It's clear to me that Piper loves her little brother; it's less clear that she will be able to avoid dropping him on national television.
Ms. Deveny if Trig would have been conceived by leftist parents that question would likely be mute.

Crude Settles Below $67 A Barrel; Dollar Hits Two-Year High Vs. Euro

Ah the free markets a wonderful thing when allowed to run it's course without the interference of the nanny nattering nimrods....
Commodities slumped for a second straight session Wednesday amid two-year highs in the dollar and a slowdown in China — the world's fastest-growing economy — which intensified fears of global recession.

Falling stock prices also weakened raw materials markets, which have taken their direction lately from equities despite commodities often being touted as an uncorrelated asset class.

"A lot of investors are beginning to use equities markets as a guide to decide how the economy will be doing, and it's all bearish at the moment," said Clarence Chu, a trader at Hudson Capital Energy in Singapore.

More Than 3,000 Academics Sign Pro-Ayers Petition

Is college neccessarily the best place to send your 18 yr. old?
More than 3,200 supporters -- most of them educators -- have signed a petition protesting what they say is the "demonization of Professor William Ayers," asserting that his violent actions as the co-founder of the Weather Underground were just "history."

Barack Obama's ties to Ayers have been questioned during the presidential campaign by critics who call the professor a "domestic terrorist."

Among the people who signed the petition are No. 5, Columbia University professor of Arab studies Rashid Khalidi, and No. 814, former University of Colorado at Boulder professor Ward Churchill.

Poll Suggests U.S. Troops Support McCain 3-1

Anyone surprised?
A poll by the Military Times newspaper group suggests that there is overwhelming support for John McCain among U.S. troops in every branch of the armed forces by a nearly 3-1 margin.

According to the poll, 68 percent of active-duty and retired servicemen and women support McCain, while 23 percent support Barack Obama. The numbers are nearly identical among officers and enlisted troops.

Question of the Week

Why is it that ~ 45% of white voters support Obama and only 3% of Black voters support McCain yet Whites in this election are considered the racists?

Principle Over Rhetoric

Ya got love this lady...
NEW YORK – Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin says she supports a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, a break with John McCain who has said he believes states should be left to define what marriage is. In an interview with Christian Broadcasting Network, the Alaska governor said she had voted in 1998 for a state amendment banning same sex marriage and hoped to see a federal ban on such unions.

"I have voted along with the vast majority of Alaskans who had the opportunity to vote to amend our Constitution defining marriage as between one man and one woman. I wish on a federal level that's where we would go. I don't support gay marriage," Palin said. She said she believed traditional marriage is the foundation for strong families.

Leading indicators rise for 1st time in 5 months

Interesting
NEW YORK – A private industry group says the economy's health improved for the first time in five months in September as interest rate spreads, supplier deliveries and new orders strengthened.

The New York-based Conference Board said Monday its monthly forecast of future economic activity rose 0.3 percent, a better reading than the 0.2 percent drop expected by Wall Street economists surveyed by Thomson/IFR.

Schuster Lies

David Shuster and a correspondent were discussing ACORN and the voter registration fraud that was being investigated. Shuster then played a clip of Palin telling a crowd that Obama worked as a lawyer as well as a trainer for ACORN.

He then stated emphatically that "Obama was not an ACORN trainer!*

Well David if you're going launch a whopper on National TV at least make it something a bit more difficult to refute.

Hawaii ending universal child health care

It's not rocket science folks...
HONOLULU – Hawaii is dropping the only state universal child health care program in the country just seven months after it launched.

Gov. Linda Lingle's administration cited budget shortfalls and other available health care options for eliminating funding for the program. A state official said families were dropping private coverage so their children would be eligible for the subsidized plan.

"People who were already able to afford health care began to stop paying for it so they could get it for free," said Dr. Kenny Fink, the administrator for Med-QUEST at the Department of Human Services. "I don't believe that was the intent of the program."

Evidence Mounts: Ayers Co-Wrote Obama's Dreams

Maybe NOT just a guy in the neighborhood
Evidence continues to mount that Barack Obama had substantial help from Bill Ayers in the creation of his 1995 book, Dreams From My Father, a book that Time Magazine has called "the best-written memoir ever produced by an American politician." The evidence falls into five general categories, here summarized.

* The discovery of new matching nautical metaphors from both Ayers and Obama that almost assuredly came from the same source: Ayers, a former merchant seaman.

* The discovery of a Bill Ayers' essay on memoir writing, whose postmodern themes and phrases are echoed throughout Dreams.

* A newly discovered book chapter from 1990 that shows clearly and painfully the limits of Obama's prose style the year he received a contract to write Dreams.

* The revelation by radical Islamicist Rashid Khalidi that Ayers made his "dining room table" available for neighborhood writers who needed help.

* A refined timeline that shows Ayers had the means, the motive and the time to help Obama when he needed it most.

US troops kill No. 2 leader of al-Qaida in Iraq

You rememeber Iraq, the country we're at war with and where the left insisted we would lose and must pull out immediately that is of course untill we be won and stablized the country.
BAGHDAD - American troops acting on a tip killed the No. 2 leader of al-Qaida in Iraq — a Moroccan known for his ability to recruit and motivate foreign fighters — in a raid in the northern city of Mosul, the U.S. military said Wednesday.

The military statement described the man, known as Abu Qaswarah, as a charismatic leader who had trained in Afghanistan and managed to rally al-Qaida followers in Iraq despite U.S. and Iraqi security gains.

Rear Adm. Patrick Driscoll, a U.S. spokesman in Baghdad, also said the military suspected that Iranian agents were trying to bribe Iraqi politicians to oppose negotiations over a security pact that would extend the presence of American troops in Iraq.

Brunner Loses Appeal

Voter fraud takes a hit in Ohio...
CINCINNATI - A federal appeals court on Tuesday ordered Ohio's top elections official to set up a system by Friday to verify the eligibility of new voters and make the information available to the state's 88 county election boards.

The full 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati upheld a lower court ruling that Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner must use other government records to check thousands of new voters for registration fraud.

A three-judge panel of the 6th Circuit had disagreed last week, but the full court's ruling overturns that decision.

Fat Doesn't Equal Reprieve

LUCASVILLE, Ohio -- Ohio has executed a 5-foot-7, 267-pound double murderer who argued he was too fat to die humanely by lethal injection.

Richard Cooey died at 10:28 a.m. Tuesday at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville.

There were no immediate reports of problems finding suitable veins to deliver the deadly chemicals.

His attorneys had argued that his weight problem could make it difficult for prison staff to access a vein. A prisons spokeswoman said earlier that Cooey received a pre-execution exam and was cleared.

Russia Prefers Obama Administration

Kosachyov, also a senior official in the pro-Kremlin party United Russia, said that before the latest deterioration of U.S.-Russian ties, driven by events in the Caucasus, he was convinced that Obama would be the better partner for the Kremlin.

This conclusion had more to do with the candidates' biographies than their respective parties, Kosachyov said. There is "no big difference" between Democrats and Republicans when it comes to international relations, he said.

Obama's lack of foreign policy experience might actually be an advantage, Kosachyov said. McCain's political career began during the Cold War, while Obama was free of such a historical mindset and could take a fresh approach at rebuilding U.S.-Russian ties, he said.
So do just about every political adversary we have in the world including Iran, North Korea, Cuba, The Taliban, Hezbollah, Al Qaeda, Hamas, China, Syria and now Russia to name but a few.

Now why do you suppose that is?

Obama Born in Kenya?

I have wondered for some time why the Obama campaign hasn't just produced his birth certificate and put all the speculation of his not being a natural born citizen to rest. Instead he has chosen to stonewall and obfuscate. Why?

Although I still consider this wild speculation it is becoming a tad more interesting simply because the ramifications would be earthshaking.

North Korea No Longer Part of "Axis of Evil"?

Yes, the North Korea that's in the process of restarting it’s nuclear enrichment facility?
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States plans to announce on Saturday that it will take North Korea off its terrorism blacklist in a bid to salvage denuclearization talks, a U.S. official familiar with the decision said.

The official, who asked not to be named as the announcement is set to be made later in the day, said Pyongyang had provided assurances on verifying its nuclear activities and President George W. Bush decided to proceed with taking the North off the U.S. list of states considered sponsors of terrorism.

The move, which will be unpopular with some conservative Republicans who see the United States as giving in to North Korea, follows days of deliberations within the administration after a visit by U.S. envoy Chris Hill to Pyongyang last week.
Unless there's some sort of quid pro quo this makes no sense whatsoever.

Barack Obama Couldn’t Pass a Routine Background Investigation

Sen. Barack Obama wouldn’t pass a routine government background investigation, not only to become an FBI agent, but a police officer as well. If he were a soldier, his background would preclude him from obtaining a security clearance. He wouldn’t even qualify to be a support person in a federal agency, such as secretary, for that matter. His past cocaine usage disqualifies him from being a DEA agent.

There’s another big problem Sen. Obama has: His association and business relationship with Weatherman Underground founder William Ayers, a former domestic terrorist who is still unrepentant for his bombings on U.S. landmarks and police stations. Usually, the company you keep reveals who you really are. Ayres felt then, as he does now, that America is the evil of the world and needs punishing for past and current bad acts. Not many federal agencies would want someone with that kind of chip on his shoulder working for it.
So a man who could obtain no level of security clearance whatsoever because of his past could soon have unlimited access to classified information and control of the nuclear arsenal. Heaven help us.

Barack Obama Joined Marxist-Socialist Third Party In 1990s

Democratic candidate Barack Obama was a member of the socialist New Party during the 1990s, according to new evidence unearthed by web bloggers, receiving the party’s endorsement for his state Senate run in 1996. Reports earlier this summer that Obama was associated with the New Party were vigorously denied by the Obama campaign and the the New Party, but researchers examining Internet archives have found New Party documents clearly indicating Obama was a member of the party, received its endorsement, encouraged Party members to work with him in the Illinois statehouse, and signed a contract agreeing to maintain a relationship with the Marxist-led party during his senate term.

The New Party was active in the United States from 1992 to 1998, and was strongly affiliated with Marxist and socialist organizations including the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). The Party’s Chicago chapter included a large number of Maoist and communist members, and a large number of members of the leftist organizing group ACORN
The really scary thing....the sheer number of people that really don't find it an issue.

Potty Lottery

Remember this...

Woman Who Sat on Toilet for Two Years Still 'Very Sick'

Too many quips to even contemplate.
A woman who may have spent nearly two years in a bathroom, sitting on the toilet so long that the seat adhered to sores on her body, remains hospitalized and in pain from medical procedures, family members said Wednesday.

Pam Babcock, 35, was found stuck to the toilet in late February after her boyfriend, Kory McFarren, 37, called authorities to say something was wrong with her. Police believe she sat on the toilet for about a month.
Well add this to the story:

Boyfriend of Kansas Woman Stuck to Toilet Wins Lottery for Second Time This Year
GREAT BEND, Kan. — A Kansas man whose girlfriend was physically stuck to the toilet in their home wins $20,000 in the state Lottery — for the second time this year.

Kory McFarren of Ness City cashed in his winning $2 Bonus Crossword ticket in Great Bend Monday. On July 29, the 37-year-old McFarren received six months of probation after pleading no contest to misdemeanor mistreatment of a dependent adult.

McFarren called Ness County deputies in February to report that his girlfriend, Pam Babcock, had refused to come out of the bathroom for two years. Authorities found her stuck to the toilet.

Troops back McCain

This is an even greater percenatge of support than I would have imagined.
Sen. John McCain enjoys overwhelming support from the military’s professional core, though race appears to be a decisive factor for career-oriented black service members, a Military Times survey of nearly 4,300 readers indicates.

McCain, R-Ariz., handily defeated Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., 68 percent to 23 percent in a voluntary survey of 4,293 active-duty, National Guard and reserve subscribers and former subscribers to Army Times, Navy Times, Marine Corps Times and Air Force Times.

The results of the Military Times 2008 Election Poll are not representative of the opinions of the military as a whole. The group surveyed is older, more senior in rank and less ethnically diverse than the overall armed services.

Don't expect a fair shake tonight

Aside from Ifil's book lovefest there's this from Newsbusters...
Ifill's article which could properly be titled, The Adoration:

Barack Obama is sitting in the back of his rented luxury campaign bus with its granite counters and two flat-screen TVs. The Illinois senator's arms are wrapped around his wife, Michelle, whom he doesn't get to see much these days. At this very moment he is, of all things, singing.

I've just asked them how their lives have changed since he won the Democratic presidential nomination. There have definitely been changes, especially for Michelle Obama, who used to pride herself on campaigning by day and rushing home to her daughters each night. Now she is spending more of her days and nights on the road, but seldom in the same place as her husband. And when their daughters‹Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7 get to see their dad, they likely have to share him with thousands of adoring strangers. "Daddy's gone a lot," Sasha notes. "We don't see him that much."

But on this Fourth of July, everyone is together. Even though there are at least a half-dozen aides and family members on the bus with us, it feels intimate back here. Michelle and Barack are curled up on the beige couch, while the children are reading and coloring a few feet away. Michelle folds her long legs to her chin and leans into her husband as he explains the reality of their lives. When he pauses, she finishes his sentences.

Oprah's Mom Sues Store Over Huge Credit Account

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Oprah Winfrey's mother says she shouldn't have to pay a nearly $156,000 debt to a high-end fashion store because store officials shouldn't have extended credit to her.

Valentina Inc. alleges that Vernita Lee of Milwaukee racked up $155,547 in purchases and interest as of July 1. The company sued, saying Lee fell behind in minimum monthly payments of $2,000.

Lee filed a counterclaim Friday contending that Valentina took advantage of her "lack of knowledge, ability, and-or capacity" when creating her credit account
