Deans Racial Remarks

Conservatives have called Deans remarks Racist while the left defends his statements as harmless and overblown. Here's the statement:
"You think the Republican National committee could get this many people of color
in a single room? Only if they had the hotel staff in here."

A racist is someone who believes one race to be superior to another. In that strict definition, his comments were not racist. Over the last decade or so, the left has broadened that defintion to include any beliefs or statements that sterotype, presuppose or pigeonhole an individual or group by race. By that defintion, Deans comments were most definately racist.

Dean condiscended to blacks by presupposing that predominately blacks would be holding the menial jobs of "hotel staff" In trying to make a point he used a racial sterotype that was judgemental and offensive. If a moderate or conservative had made this comment, it would have immediately been blasted as predudiced and the person excoriated. "When we say it, it's ok because are hearts our pure and our purpose noble. When they say it, it's despicable because they hearts are evil and their purpose diabolical." Thus the twisted rationalization for their hypocracy. This may ease their conscience, but most Americans know better.

The left set the bar on this issue, they better be prepared to live with it.
