Republican U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio whipped a crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference gathering into a frenzy on Thursday with a speech that delivered a stinging critique of President Obama. Rubio tried to solidify his conservative base in hopes of building a lead over Governor Charlie Crist in the race for the Republican nomination.
Rubio used part of his speech to poke fun at President Obama, although not without a certain amount of irony. Rubio joked about President Obama using Teleprompters, while standing in front of a set of Teleprompters during his speech.
Rubio's sudden ascension in the more conservative wings of the Republican Party has coincided with an increasing anger at President Obama and the rise of the so-called "Tea Party." The Tea Party has started to throw its weight around and is solidly behind Rubio for the Republican nomination.
