Pot meet kettle...
FORT WORTH, Texas — Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign says rival Barack Obama has a lot of questions to answer about his relationship with indicted Chicago political insider Antoin “Tony” Rezko, whose federal corruption trial is scheduled to start the day before critical primaries in Texas and Ohio.
Howard Wolfson, Clinton’s chief spokesman, also told reporters today that if Obama doesn’t sweep the primaries on Tuesday, it will show that Democrats want the contest to continue. The answer belies earlier statements from top Clinton aides that she needs to win delegate-rich Texas and Ohio to stay in the race.

U.S. Navy ships move closer to Lebanon ( 9 in all )
Never a good sign...
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The U.S. Navy has moved the guided-missile destroyer USS Cole and other ships to the eastern Mediterranean Sea off Lebanon, Pentagon officials said Thursday.
The deployment comes amid a political standoff over Lebanon's presidency, but the Navy would not say whether the events are linked.
The destroyer and two support ships are close to Lebanon but out of visual range of the coast, Pentagon officials said. Another six vessels, led by the amphibious assault ship USS Nassau, are close to Italy and steaming toward the other three, the officials said.

Obama Says He's Quit Smoking
Memo to Hussein, you haven't "sucessfully" quit smoking untill you've gone without for at least a year. This coming from someone with an intimate first hand knowledge.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Barack Obama said he has successfully quit smoking cigarettes despite the pressures of a closely contested and lengthy presidential campaign.
"I've been chewing on this Nicorette, which tastes like you're chewing on ground pepper — but it does help," the Democratic candidate said in an interview that aired Thursday on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."
His wife, Michelle, had used his smoking as leverage when the two were discussing whether he should run for president. She would agree only if Obama agreed to give up smoking.

Obama Overtakes Hillary In Texas
The fat lady hasn't sung yet but she's definately clearing her throat.
It's starting to look like next Tuesday could be Hillary's last stand.
A new CNN /Opinion Research poll finds Obama ahead of Hillary Clinton Texas 50%-46%. In a similar poll taken a week before, Hillary held a 50%-48% lead.
Keep in mind these numbers are within the polls sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points for Democratic respondents, so statistically, the race is a virtual tie.
The poll was conducted February 22-24.

80th Oscars a Dud, Preliminary Ratings Show 14 Percent Lower Than Least-Watched Ceremony
Appears that the Mutual Admiration Societies incessant meetings no longer hold the snake fascination they once did.
LOS ANGELES — The Oscars were a ratings dud. More so than usual, even.
Preliminary ratings for the 80th annual Academy Awards telecast were 14 percent lower than the least-watched ceremony ever, according to Nielsen Media Research.
Nielsen said Monday that overnight ratings were also 21 percent lower than last year, when "The Departed" was named best picture.

Clinton Throws the Kitchen Sink
The desperation is palpable...A photo showing Barack Obama dressed in Somali garb is being circulated by campaign staffers working for Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, according to DrudgeReport.com.
FOX News is working to confirm the report.
The photo was taken in 2006 during a trip through Africa. Obama was dressed as a Somali elder during a visit to southwestern Kenya, said the Drudge Report, which said a Clinton staff member had provided the photo to the Web site.

Nader Running for President
When even Barak Obama isn't liberal enough for you.
WASHINGTON - Ralph Nader said Sunday he will run for president as a third-party candidate, criticizing the top White House contenders as too close to big business and pledging to repeat a bid that will "shift the power from the few to the many."
Nader, 73, said most people are disenchanted with the Democratic and Republican parties due to a prolonged Iraq war and a shaky economy. The consumer advocate also blamed tax and other corporate-friendly policies under the Bush administration that he said have left many lower- and middle-class people in debt.
Democrat Undergrounds take:
Cokey Roberts is a closet Republican.
The GOP paid him to run, just like before.
The GOP paid NBC & Tim Russert to give Nader a platform.
Karl Rove paid off the NYT to run a bogus story about McCain to boost campaign donations.

New York Times hit-job on McCain hits stock more than McCain
Gray Lady down!
Yesterday's big lead story in the New York Times (NYSE: NYT) questioning Republican presidential hopeful John McCain's ethics surrounding his relationship with a female lobbyist, was nothing more than a political hit job and not only did it backfire as McCain is raising money off this story but also sent shares of the Times' stock slipping more than 6%.

McCain turns tables on Times
My enemy's enemy is my friend. Unwittingly the Times did more to endear conservatives to McCain than they could possibly have imagined.
Potentially lethal article triggers sophisticated and brutal pushback operation from McCain organization.
Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign claimed vindication Thursday night after a sophisticated 24-hour counterattack turned a potentially lethal story in The New York Times into a conservative call to arms.
The piece about McCain’s friendly relations with a telecommunications lobbyist — long-discussed in political circles and planned for weeks by McCain operatives — was the first test of his ability to confront a public-relations crisis since becoming the GOP’s presumptive nominee.
But the reaction may have said as much about the mindset of the conservative movement on the brink of the general election as it did about McCain and his team.
“Even if they want to quibble within our own tribe, they’ll circle the wagons when we’re attacked by the Times,” said McCain campaign senior adviser Charlie Black.

Radical Shiite Cleric al-Sadr Announces Cease-Fire Extension
He's decided that being irrelevant is better than being wiped out.
BAGHDAD — Anti-U.S. cleric Muqtada al-Sadr announced Friday that he has extended a cease-fire order to his Shiite Mahdi Army by another six months, giving Iraq a chance to continue its fragile recovery from brutal sectarian violence.
His message was delivered by Shiite clerics during prayer services in mosques dominated by followers of the black-turbaned cleric.
"According to an order by Sayyid Muqtada, activities of the Mahdi Army will be suspended ... for another six month period," al-Sadr's aide Hazim al-Aaraji said, using an honorific for al-Sadr during his sermon at the Kazimiyah mosque in Baghdad.

Bush Approval Beats Congress 2-1
Pelosi and Reid are so lovable, how is it possible?
Approval ratings for Bush climbed to 34 percent from 31 percent last month, and positive ratings for Congress inched up from 14 percent to a still-low 17 percent.
Concerns about personal finances, job security, safety and the direction of the country all eased at least slightly in the last month, brightening the outlook for Americans who had slipped into a funk around the holidays.

Larry Sinclair Offered $100,00 for Polygraph (Updated and Bumped)
Pretty fair offer, now it's time to put up or shut up.
Big Head DC can confirm that WhiteHouse.com is offering a legitimate $100,000 to Larry Sinclair, the man who has accused Barack Obama in a lawsuit of doing cocaine while performing an sex act on him while in a limo in 1999.
The owner of the site, Daniel Parisi, is a multi-millionaire and wants the truth to be known.
The site is also offering $10,000 plus the cost of airfare and hotel bills to Sinclair up front for taking the test, with the promise of the larger reward, if he passes.
Update: Larry Sinclair Accepts WhiteHouse.com $100,000 Polygraph Challenge
The truth will set you free they say, but the truth plus $100,000 will set you even freer. That's the conclusion our good friend Larry Sinclair has come to after considering the offer we made him yesterday: $10,000 to take a polygraph test over his Barack Obama sex and drugs claims, and $100,000 if he passes it.
After communicating via email to work out the logistics of the challenge, we were able to reach an agreement. Now, the plan is to get together with Sinclair and one of the best polygraph experts in the country, and ask him some questions – with the camera rolling, of course. As more details are made available we will post it here
This is getting interesting.
Update II: Tuesday's the Day
We're not ready to share all the details about our upcoming evening lie-detecting with Obama accuser Larry Sinclair, but there are a few things that we want to tell you – namely that we've agreed on a time and place to carry out our wager with Mr. Sinclair.
We're going to meet him on Tuesday, February 26th at an undisclosed location in New York City. We've picked a polygraph expert, too: a renowned expert who has been involved in quite a few high-profile cases who we're not going to name until the results are not only in, but have been verified by a second renowned expert.

Clinton targets pledged delegates
Stock up on Orville Redenbacher's, this is going to be good.
Richmond Mayor (and former first black Virginia governor) L. Douglas Wilder predicted riots in the streets if the Clinton campaign were to overturn an Obama lead through the use of superdelegates
Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign intends to go after delegates whom Barack Obama has already won in the caucuses and primaries if she needs them to win the nomination.
This strategy was confirmed to me by a high-ranking Clinton official on Monday. And I am not talking about superdelegates, those 795 party big shots who are not pledged to anybody. I am talking about getting pledged delegates to switch sides.

Fidel Castro Steps Down
And the collective Cuban heart soars...
HAVANA (AFP) - Ailing revolutionary icon Fidel Castro permanently gave up the Cuban presidency on Tuesday, ending five decades of ironclad rule of the island marked by his brash defiance of the United States.
In a message published by the online version of the Cuban Communist Party newspaper Granma, the 81-year-old Castro said he would not seek the presidency again when it is decided later this week.
"I neither will aspire to nor will I accept -- I repeat -- I neither will aspire to nor will I accept, the position of president of the council of state and commander in chief," Castro wrote, almost 19 months after undergoing intestinal surgery and handing power temporarily to his brother Raul Castro.

Quote of the Day
Michelle Obama:
>"What we have learned over this year is that hope is making a comeback. It is making a comeback. And let me tell you something -- for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. And I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment. I've seen people who are hungry to be unified around some basic common issues, and it's made me proud."
WOW, that's some statement from a potential First Lady.

Question of the Day
Which is more racist: Voting for someone primarily because they are black or voting against someone primarily because they are black?
