Crikey, it's blasphemy!
Even as a beaming and tuxedoed Al Gore was picking up his Oscar for Best Documentary of the year, greenhouse skeptics were planning to congregate in Canberra, Australia for the release of a new book claiming that environmentalism is the new religion.
In the land of Crocodile Dundee, it is still safe for skeptics to openly congregate, risk of retaliation notwithstanding. In North America, questioning the science of global warming can get you outed by lefty politicians for purportedly being on the payroll of the big oil companies.
Indeed, Evans sees global warming as a scam that has been, "arguably, the most extraordinary example of scientific fraud in the postwar period."
Nine Facts About Climate Change author Ray Evans told The Age in an interview a month ago that Gore's film is "bullshit from beginning to end".
Well put Mr Evans.

Baker/ Christopher Disband SCOTUS Declare Themselves Absolute Authority on Constitution
Good grief....
WASHINGTON - Former Secretaries of State James A. Baker III and Warren Christopher will head a private, bipartisan panel to study a lingering and gnawing national question: Who does the Constitution say has the power to begin, conduct and end wars.
The dispute over the authority to wage war has historically divided presidents, members of Congress and scholars. Through the years, the White House gradually has assumed increased control of U.S. war-making, and it has arisen anew amid the shrill debate in the new Democratic-controlled Congress over President Bush’s war buildup in Iraq.

Jamil Hussein?
CNN is now reporting that the original report of 18 young boys killed on a soccer field was erronious. The military confirmed it was a controlled explosion that was bigger than expected.
CNN also admitted that they independently confirmed the report from other media sources.
To their credit, at least they admitted the screw up.
Fox has the real story.

Alternate Universe Alert
From Redstate...“I think we ought to take action on all fronts including Syria.” — Sen. Levin, today at an Armed Services Committee hearing.
Get ready for Carl Levin to get shot by Cindy Sheehan or some other angry lefty. I'm not sure what happened to him, but he's making sense right now. On Sunday's Meet The (De)Press(ed), he finally admitted that Al-Qaeda is in Iraq and American troops needed to stay there for "a counter-terrorism purpose."
Today, he got bolder and and called for escalation of the offensives against both Iran and Syria. Bravo. Speaking at a Senate Armed Services Committee meeting, Senator Levin said to John Michael McConnell, Director of National Intelligence.
I don't trust Levin as far as I can spit. Would love to know what suddenly motivated this.
This Time CDS Rears it's Ugly Head.
No doubt you have already heard about the attempt on Vice President Dick Cheney's life in Afghanistan by the Islmofascist Taliban. Unsuprisingly the event gave the moonbats an opportunity to show their true colors.
From MND
Targeting an American Leader, the Liberal Left over at The Huffington Post are celebrating the attempt on the life of Cheney and trumpeting their disappointment over the failure of the Islamic Terrorists to kill Cheney.

Pelosi Falls Short On Election Promises
Decent article although it is highly debatable whether Ms Pelosi ever had any intention of fulfilling her campaign promises.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is discovering the cold truth about governing with a slim majority: It's much easier to promise behavioral change for Congress than to deliver it.
Pelosi vowed that five-day workweeks would be a hallmark of a harder-working Democratic majority. So far, the House has logged only one. Lawmakers plan to clock three days this week.
The speaker has denied Republicans a vote on their proposals during congressional debates -- a tactic she previously declared oppressive and promised to end. Pelosi has opened the floor to a Republican alternative just once.

Kurdish Officials to Back Iraq Oil Law (Updated & Bumped)
This IS a big deal folks....
SULAIMANIYAH, Iraq (AP) - Kurdish authorities have agreed to back a draft law to manage and share Iraq's vast oil wealth, removing the last major obstacle to approving the measure and meeting a key U.S. benchmark in Iraq, a top Kurdish official said Saturday.
Approval of a new oil law could help open the way for international oil companies to invest billions to upgrade Iraq's decrepit wells and pipelines and exploit the country's reserves, among the world's largest.
The bill also provides a formula for distributing revenues among all major ethnic and religious groups, easing Sunni fears of being cut out of a future bonanza because their central and western homelands lack extensive reserves.
Update: Iraqi Cabinet approves draft oil law
BAGHDAD, Iraq - The Iraqi Cabinet approved a long-awaited draft oil law on Monday, sending it to parliament for consideration, the prime minister said, calling the agreement "another founding stone in state-building."
Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's government had promised a new oil law by the end of 2006 but missed the deadline due to objections from the Kurds, and it faced pressure from the Bush administration to come through. Many of
Iraq vast oil reserves can be found in the Kurdish north and the Shiite south, and the Kurds wanted a greater role in awarding contracts and administering the revenues

A Real Inconvenient Truth
What say you Al....
Finger-pointing critics often vilify Americans as the sole cause of global warming. But the typical image of SUV-driving, energy-hogging Yankees may be bogus -- a new analysis of U.N. data reveals that U.S. efforts to reduce greenhouse gases actually beat European policies.
"Despite constant criticism from environmental activists at home and across Europe claiming the U.S. government is doing nothing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, new evidence suggests America's efforts are more effective than those of Europe's," according to a study by H. Sterling Burnett of the Dallas-based National Center for Policy Analysis, a nonprofit, nonpartisan research institute.

Major Weapons Cache Seized in Iraq
Good news from Iraq
BAQOUBA, Iraq -- U.S. and Iraqi forces have seized a large weapons cache that includes parts for sophisticated roadside bombs that are believed to originate in Iran, U.S. military investigators said.
Details of the find were expected to be announced Monday at a news conference in Baghdad.
But military officials told The Associated Press that the arsenal is one of the biggest found north of the Iraqi capital and contains components for so-called EFPs _ explosively formed projectiles that fire a slug of molten metal that can penetrate armored vehicles.

"Liberal" Advice
DEAR ABBY: Our 17-year-old twin son and daughter met with military recruiters who came to their school and made the military sound exciting and glamorous. They are now saying that after they graduate next year, they want to join the military instead of going to college. They have even put up military posters in their rooms that they received from the recruiters.
My husband and I are horrified. We cannot stand the thought of them going off to war, and do not believe that war is the answer to the world's problems. It will be a year, and hopefully the novelty of the idea will wear off by then. However, I don't want to take a chance. How can I counter the idea? -- CLEVELAND MOM
DEAR CLEVELAND MOM: Before your children commit themselves to the idea that the military is all foreign travel, shiny medals and glory, they should see firsthand that there is a more serious side. Contact your nearest veterans hospital and inquire about you and your children paying some visits and volunteering to help wounded vets. It may be a sobering experience, but it should open their eyes in no time flat.
I wonder if Ms. Phillips (Dear Abby) would also recommend that girls see videos of abortion procedures and aborted fetuses prior to having an abortion.

The Oscars
Oscars, Emmy's, Tony's, Peoples Choice, Grammy's, Golden Globe, Independent Spirit, SAG, Guild, Film Critics Choice, American Music, CMA, MTV video, movie, TRA, Daytime Emmy's, TV Land, GIVE ME A FREAKIN BREAK!
Hysterical hoopla and hype for a group of shallow self absorbed narcissists gathering once a year to tell one another how wonderful they all are. It's the height of social triviality masquerading as cultural significance.
You will never see me devote even one line to the coverage of the Oscars or, for that matter, the annual meeting of any mutual admiration society. They are silly and have the socially redeeming value of gawking at a automobile accident with fatalities.

Iraqi Sunni Lands Show New Oil and Gas Promise
I had read this a week or so ago and couldn't remember where. Well I found it and have posted it FYI....
KARABILA, Iraq In a remote patch of the Anbar desert just 20 miles from the Syrian border, a single blue pillar of flanges and valves sits atop an enormous deposit of oil and natural gas that would be routine in this petroleum-rich country except for one fact: this is Sunni territory.
Huge petroleum deposits have long been known in Iraq’s Kurdish north and Shiite south. But now, Iraq has substantially increased its estimates of the amount of oil and natural gas in deposits on Sunni lands after quietly paying foreign oil companies tens of millions of dollars over the past two years to re-examine old seismic data across the country and retrain Iraqi petroleum engineers.

Iraqi PM says some 400 militants killed in crackdown
I was just musing after reading this article.....has any major news organization kept track of how many foreign and al-Qaida terrorists have been killed or captured since the war in Iraq began. The answer is they haven't. My guess is those figures wouldn't support their prevailing narrative.
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - U.S. and Iraqi security forces have killed around 400 suspected militants since the start of a major crackdown to stem violence in Baghdad, Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said on Saturday.
Maliki visited the command center for the operation which was launched 10 days ago and urged security forces taking part in it not to be influenced by sectarian loyalties.
He told reporters 426 suspected militants had been detained in the crackdown "and around that number have been killed".

Israel seeks all clear for Iran air strike
Israel volunteering to do the worlds dirty work?
Israel is negotiating with the United States for permission to fly over Iraq as part of a plan to attack Iran's nuclear facilities, The Daily Telegraph can reveal.
To conduct surgical air strikes against Iran's nuclear programme, Israeli war planes would need to fly across Iraq. But to do so the Israeli military authorities in Tel Aviv need permission from the Pentagon.
A senior Israeli defence official said negotiations were now underway between the two countries for the US-led coalition in Iraq to provide an "air corridor" in the event of the Israeli government deciding on unilateral military action to prevent Teheran developing nuclear weapons.

EX-MARINE, 70, KILLS TOUR THUG
Semper Fi!
February 23, 2007/NYP -- A retired 70-year-old Marine killed a mugger with his bare hands after a tour bus of U.S. senior citizens was held up in the Costa Rican city of Limon, authorities said yesterday.
The retiree squeezed the 20-year-old mugger in a headlock, broke his clavicle and choked him, police said.
The thief's two accomplices, who were armed, fled as other retirees on the bus started defending themselves. The group then drove the unconscious mugger to a local Red Cross clinic, where he was declared dead.

Michelle Gets Her Own Show on Fox
We have been hearing scuttlebutt for a couple weeks that this was in the works. Atta girl Michelle!
Fox News Channel is testing another pilot on Sunday that will air following its experiment in news satire, "The ½ Hour News Hour."
"It's Out There," a half-hour of stories derived from blogs, will get a half-hour test run following Joel Surnow's satirical take on news.
Show, fronted by conservative blogger-columnist Michele Malkin and former Clinton administration operative Kirsten Powers, will take on political and cultural issues enflaming the blogosphere.

12th-grade scores gloomy
What the unions have done for the American automobile industry they are now doing for the American educational system.
Years of education reforms have failed to lift the performance of U.S. high school students, according to a gloomy set of numbers that stunned educators and brought calls Thursday for more urgency.
In the most recent national test on reading, the nation's 12th-graders scored lower than they did in 1992. Only 73 percent scored at or above the "basic" level in the National Assessment of Educational Progress, also known as the Nation's Report Card. That was down from 80 percent in 1992.
Bottom line, untill school administration has the authority to fire bad teachers and reward good ones based on performance, this trend will continue.

Lieberman Says War Vote Could Prompt Party Switch
The "slow bleed" policy advocated by many on the left could very possibly push him over....
Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman of Connecticut told the Politico Thursday that he has no immediate plans to switch parties, but suggested Democratic opposition to funding the war in Iraq might change his mind.
Lieberman, a registered independent who caucuses with Democrats, has been among the strongest supporters of the war and President Bush’s plan to send another 21,500 combat troops into Iraq to help quell the violence there.
Even though Lieberman is unquestionably a liberal the Republicans are responsible for him winning his seat.

Odierno: Two Chopper Shootdown Suspects Nabbed
Waterboarding anyone?
The operational commander of U.S. and coalition forces in Iraq says the U.S. has apprehended two suspects believed involved in the shootdown of U.S. helicopters, and he says the U.S. military is working aggressively to combat the threat of a new insurgent weapon -- the chlorine truck bomb.
Speaking from Camp Liberty in Iraq, Lt. Gen. Ray Odierno made the comments today during a 30-minute satellite link news conference with journalists at the Pentagon.

Iraq Insurgents Use 2nd 'Dirty' Attack
The fact that this story is flying under the radar of most major news organizations speaks volumes.
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) -- Insurgents exploded a truck carrying chlorine gas canisters Wednesday - the second such "dirty" chemical attack in two days - while a U.S. official said ground fire apparently forced the downing of a Black Hawk helicopter. All nine aboard the aircraft were rescued.
The attacks offer a sweeping narrative on evolving tactics by Sunni insurgents who have proved remarkably adaptable.
Adaptable is not the word most would use to describe the viciousness, brutality and barbarity employed by these murdering scumbags, but this is AP after all.
