BUSH BASHER SMASHES DISABLED TEEN: COPS

" FIGHT FOR PEACE", even if it means beating up a little disabled girl.

A man heckling First Lady Laura Bush and daughter Jenna outside the 92nd Street Y was arrested after he punched a wheelchair-bound girl whose parents had told him to shut up, authorities said yesterday. German Talis, 22, was shouting obscenities at the Bushes, who were leaving the building Tuesday, when he crossed paths with Wendy and John Lovetro and their daughter Maureen, 18, who has cerebral palsy.

Gore Ducks, as a Backlash Builds Against Biofuels

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction...

The campaign against climate change could be set back by the global food crisis, as foreign populations turn against measures to use foodstuffs as substitutes for fossil fuels. With prices for rice, wheat, and corn soaring, food-related unrest has broken out in places such as Haiti, Indonesia, and Afghanistan. Several countries have blocked the export of grain Mr. Gore was not available for an interview yesterday on the food crisis, according to his spokeswoman. A spokesman for Mr. Gore’s public campaign to address climate change, the Alliance for Climate Protection, declined to comment for this article.

The Gingrich-Pelosi Climate Change Ad: Why I Took Part by Newt Gingrich

This is an excerpt from an e-mail we received from former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich on why he participated in an ad for WE.

Many of you have written to me to ask why I recently taped an advertisement with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for The Alliance for Climate Protection, a group founded by former Vice President Al Gore. I completely understand why many of you would have questions about this, so I want to take this opportunity to explain my reasons. First of all, I want to be clear: I don't think that we have conclusive proof of global warming. And I don't think we have conclusive proof that humans are at the center of it. But here's what we do know. There is an important debate going on right now over the right energy policy, the right environmental policy, and making sure we do the right things for our future and the future of our children and grandchildren. Conservatives are missing from this debate, and I think that's a mistake. When it comes to preserving our environment for future generations, we can't have a slogan of "Just yell no!"

Complete and utter BS. Conservatives want nothing more than to be part of the debate but the left has declared the debate OVER and brands any and all who don’t completely agree with their position to be unworthy of consideration. Capitulation and compliance are NOT debate.

Scientist: Forget Global Warming, Prepare For New Ice Age

Warming? Cooling? Neither? Pick an expert.

Sunspot activity has not resumed up after hitting an 11-year low in March last year, raising fears that — far from warming — the globe is about to return to an Ice Age, says an Australian-American scientist.

Physicist Phil Chapman, the first native-born Australian to become an astronaut with NASA [he became an American citizen to join up, though he never went into space], said pictures from the U.S. Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) showed no spots on the sun.

He said the world cooled quickly between January last year and January this year, by about 0.7 degrees Centigrade.

"This is the fastest temperature change in the instrumental record, and it puts us back to where we were in 1930," Chapman wrote in The Australian Wednesday. "If the temperature does not soon recover, we will have to conclude that global warming is over."

Gen Petraeus picked to lead Iraq and Afghan wars

Obvious and great choice!

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Defense Secretary Robert Gates named his top commander in Iraq, Gen. David Petraeus, on Wednesday to lead U.S. Central Command, responsible for all Middle East operations, including the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Gates said Petraeus, who has overseen a military strategy widely credited with a dramatic reduction in violence in Iraq, was the most qualified U.S. officer to manage counterinsurgency operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"I recommended him to the president because I am absolutely confident he is the best man for the job," Gates said.

Gates said many security challenges in the Central Command area of responsibility are characterized by the type of nontraditional threat Petraeus is skilled at tackling.

Pennsylvania Democrat Primary

Prediction: Hillary by 7. It won't be enough to help her much in delegates but it will be enough to keep her in the race and it will perpetuate for the moment the knock down drag out against Obama Hussein.

Update: Clinton officially wins Pennsylvania

The only question remaining is how big.

Update II: Clinton 55% Obama 45%. That's big enough, the dynamic has changed.

Carter Says Obama Strongly Supported Around The World

Yes, Obama is strongly supported in the wordly circles that Jimmy Carter resides ie. Hamas, Chavez' Venezuela, Syria, Zimbabwe etc etc.

Former President Jimmy Carter continued to express his thinly veiled support for Barack Obama over the weekend during a trip to the Middle East. The Nobel laureate discussed what he called strong support for the Democratic hopeful that he discovered in his travels to Africa and Asia.

Carter has not formally endorsed either candidate, although he has suggested that he strongly leans towards supporting the Illinois Senator over rival Hillary Clinton. The man who occupied the White House from 1978 to 1982 said that Obama is the clear favorite in Ghana, Nigeria, and Nepal, and added that “world opinion is strongly supportive of Obama, that's all we hear.”

'Expelled' film draws applause at ISU

All too often many segments of the student body have more common sense then the professors who endeavor to teach (indoctrinate) them.

A line for the 7:10 p.m. premiere showing of "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed" at the Varsity II theater on Lincoln Way stretched back five storefronts to the Bali Satay House Friday.

The documentary film, narrated by actor and former Nixon speechwriter Ben Stein, explores the relationship between science and religion in academia, juxtaposing images of the Berlin Wall with footage shot for the film to suggest scientific freedom is being stifled by hostile views toward religion.

It features interviews with Guillermo Gonzalez, assistant professor in astronomy at Iowa State University, who claims he was denied tenure for his outspoken views on intelligent design, and Hector Avalos, professor of religious studies at ISU, who has been critical of the teaching of intelligent design in science classrooms.

Those who made it into the theater before it filled up generally responded positively to the film. They greeted the ending credits with applause and, after Gonzalez wrapped up a brief discussion following the film, treated him with a standing ovation.

Gallup : Clinton 46%, Obama 45%

Maybe not so "Teflon" as we've been led to believe.

PRINCETON, NJ -- Gallup Poll Daily tracking shows that Hillary Clinton now receives 46% of the support of Democrats nationally, compared to 45% for Barack Obama, marking the first time Obama has not led in Gallup's daily tracking since March 18-20.

These results are based on interviewing conducted April 16-18, including two days of interviewing after the contentious Wednesday night debate in Philadelphia and the media focus that followed. Support for Hillary Clinton has been significantly higher in both of these post-debate nights of interviewing than in recent weeks.

Mortgage plan could cost taxpayers $6bn

Again the left proposes to subsidize irresponsibility and you pay.

A Democratic proposal to use public funds to guarantee up to $300bn in mortgages could cost the US taxpayer up to $6bn, according to a preliminary assessment by the Congressional Budget office.

Barney Frank, the powerful chairman of the financial services committee, on Thursday unveiled details of legislation to stem the wave of US home foreclosures through an expansion of the Federal Housing Administration.

A similar bill is being considered by the Senate. While the government could make money depending on the performance of the new loans, it could also incur losses of between 1 and 2 per cent of the total amount, the CBO told lawmakers.

Idealistic Imbecile

One of the more telling exchanges of Wednesday's Dem debate:

GIBSON: All right. You have, however, said you would favor an increase in the capital gains tax. As a matter of fact, you said on CNBC, and I quote, "I certainly would not go above what existed under Bill Clinton," which was 28 percent. It's now 15 percent. That's almost a doubling, if you went to 28 percent.

But actually, Bill Clinton, in 1997, signed legislation that dropped the capital gains tax to 20 percent.

OBAMA: Right.

GIBSON: And George Bush has taken it down to 15 percent.

OBAMA: Right.

GIBSON: And in each instance, when the rate dropped, revenues from the tax increased; the government took in more money. And in the 1980s, when the tax was increased to 28 percent, the revenues went down.

So why raise it at all, especially given the fact that 100 million people in this country own stock and would be affected?

OBAMA: Well, Charlie, what I've said is that I would look at raising the capital gains tax for purposes of fairness....

Wow, just WOW.

Thanks McGruff at FR.

A Hamas problem for Obama?

Likeminds....

While Sen. Barack Obama sought to improve his relationship with the Jewish community today by meeting with leaders Philadelphia, comments by a Hamas political adviser this weekend could potentially hurt the Democratic presidential candidate.

During an interview on WABC radio Sunday, top Hamas political adviser Ahmed Yousef said the terrorist group supports Obama’s foreign policy vision.

“We don’t mind–actually we like Mr. Obama. We hope he will (win) the election and I do believe he is like John Kennedy, great man with great principle, and he has a vision to change America to make it in a position to lead the world community but not with domination and arrogance,” Yousef said in response to a question about the group’s willingness to meet with either of the Democratic presidential candidates.

The Great Debate

Ed Morrissey at Hot Air has the closest analysis to my own....

The last Democratic debate has finally concluded, and perhaps the last chances of ending the primaries early. Thanks to a surprisingly tenacious set of questions for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton from ABC moderaters Charles Gibson and George Stephanopolous, Barack Obama got exposed over and over again as an empty suit, while Hillary cleaned his clock. However, the big winner didn’t even take the stage tonight.

The first 45 minutes of the scheduled 90-minute debate (which went 15 minutes over) wound up focusing on the series of gaffes and stumbles from both candidates. Hillary more or less defused the Tuzla Dash by admitting she essentially lied about it, trying at one point to use the “sleep deprivation” defense. Obama, however, never did figure out the First Rule of Holes. Once again, he described religion as a refuge people use when government doesn’t work — a fatal misreading of religious faith in America. He not only came up with bad answers, he looked lost and tentative throughout the entire period.

Supreme Court upholds use of lethal injections

As expected...

WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court upheld the most common method of lethal injections executions Wednesday, clearing the way for states to resume executions that have been on hold for nearly 7 months.

The justices, by a 7-2 vote, turned back a constitutional challenge to the procedures in place in Kentucky, which uses three drugs to sedate, paralyze and kill inmates. Similar methods are used by roughly three dozen states.

The governor of Virginia lifted his state's moratorium on executions two hours after the high court issued its ruling.

Study: Divorce, illegitimate kids costing taxpayers $112 billion

One reason I suppose it was frowned upon in the good old days.

NEW YORK - Divorce and out-of-wedlock childbearing costs U.S. taxpayers more than $112 billion a year, according to a study commissioned by groups advocating government action to bolster marriage.

There have been previous attempts to calculate the cost of divorce in America. But the sponsors of the new study, being released today, said theirs is the first to gauge the broader cost of “family fragmentation” - both divorce and unwed childbearing.

Silvio Berlusconi wins Italy election

Europe veering right.

Silvio Berlusconi has won a crushing victory in the Italian general election to become prime minister for the third time.

The 71-year-old media magnate defeated Walter Veltroni, the 52-year-old leader of the Democratic Party, by a considerable margin and has a large enough majority to rule Italy for a full five-year term.

Mr Veltroni, who was a popular mayor of Rome before entering national politics, conceded defeat five hours after the polls closed, saying that the result was clear.

YAKIMA, Wash. -- A 20-year-old man accidentally shot himself in the groin early Sunday morning. It happened on the 700 block of North 24th avenue.

Police say the man was trying to conceal a double barrel shotgun in the front of his pants and accidentally fired it two times.

The gun was found at the home where the shooting took place. They also found a second stolen firearm.

WASHINGTON -- U.S. retail sales took a surprising turn upward during March, a promising sign for the economy given the punishment consumers have absorbed.

Carter Shrugs Off Calls From U.S. Officials, Lawmakers to Drop Meeting With Hamas

Constantly striving to make up for a failed Presidency, Carter continues to prove to all why it was.

WASHINGTON — Former President Jimmy Carter said he feels "quite at ease" about meeting Hamas militants over the objections of Washington because the Palestinian group is essential to a future peace with Israel.

Carter, interviewed Saturday for ABC News' "This Week," airing Sunday, also said he would oppose a U.S. Olympic boycott and hopes all countries will join in the Beijing games.

He spoke from Katmandu, Nepal, where his team of observers from the Carter Center monitored an election that appeared likely to transform rule by royal dynasty into a democracy with former Maoist rebels in a strong position, judging by incomplete returns.

Obama's remarks slammed by rivals

And deservedly so. His statements are dripping with such a degree of condescention and elitism it almost takes ones breath away.

Statement:"You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

Sens. John McCain and Hillary Rodham Clinton yesterday criticized Sen. Barack Obama as a condescending, out-of-touch elitist over remarks made Sunday and again last night in which the Illinois senator said small-town Americans are "bitter" and cling to guns and religion as symptoms of frustration.

"Pennsylvania doesn't need a president who looks down on them," Mrs. Clinton said at a Philadelphia rally yesterday. "They need a president who stands up for them, who fights for them, who works hard for your futures, your jobs, your families."

Spy photos reveal 'secret launch site' for Iran's long-range missiles

This calls for more dialogue!

The secret site where Iran is suspected of developing long-range ballistic missiles capable of reaching targets in Europe has been uncovered by new satellite photographs.

The imagery has pinpointed the facility from where the Iranians launched their Kavoshgar 1 “research rocket” on February 4, claiming that it was in connection with their space programme.

Analysis of the photographs taken by the Digital Globe QuickBird satellite four days after the launch has revealed a number of intriguing features that indicate to experts that it is the same site where Iran is focusing its efforts on developing a ballistic missile with a range of about 6,000km (4,000 miles).

Jobless Claims Fell Sharply Last Week

Recession my shiny butt.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The number of newly laid off workers filing claims for unemployment benefits fell sharply last week, after having hit the highest level in more than two years in the week before.

The Labor Department reported Thursday that applications for jobless benefits totaled 357,000 last week, down by 53,000 from the previous week.

Even with last week's improvement, the four-week average for claims rose by 2,500 to 378,250, the highest level since early October 2005

Yep, an earth shattering 5% unemployment rate.

FNC Breaking: Al Qaeda Leader Abu Ubaida al Masri Confirmed Dead

YEA BABY!

Al Qaeda operative and bomb expert Abu Ubaida al-Masri, one of the terror group's top 10 leaders, is dead, a U.S. official confirmed to FOX News Wednesday.

Al-Masri was responsible for the organization’s external operations, meaning he plotted attacks outside the tribal areas of Pakistan.

A recent Los Angeles Times report described al-Masri as a "stocky Egyptian explosives expert with two missing fingers" who, as chief of external operations for Al Qaeda, has one of the most dangerous jobs in international terrorism.

Bill would allow locals to ban handguns

This is a preview of coming attractions for many municipalities throughout the country making the SCOTUS/DC ruling monumental in it's importance.

An East Bay lawmaker's bill to clear the way for local handgun bans has a committee hearing Tuesday (April 8), delving into issues now pending before the state's and nation's highest courts.

Assemblywoman Loni Hancock, D-Berkeley, authored AB 2566 in reaction to a state Court of Appeal ruling in January which upheld the voiding of San Francisco's Measure H of 2005, approved by voters to bar city residents from owning handguns or from making or selling firearms or ammunition in the city.

The California Supreme Court is mulling whether to review this ruling, which found state law leaves no room for cities and counties to ban handgun ownership; Hancock's bill, to be heard Tuesday by the Assembly Public Safety Committee, seeks to create that room by removing the state pre-emption entirely.

Is Muqtada Al-Sadr Doomed?

Even CBS is finding it difficult to deny the obvious.

On the political front, Sadr now finds himself completely isolated. Key leaders of his own movement are now urging him to accept the Maliki government's demands to disband the militia entirely.

Saturday, Iraq's president and two vice-presidents, along with every other major political group in Iraq (except the Sadrists) joined in the condemnation of Sadr's militia, and endorsed Prime Minister Maliki's demand that the militia disarm. Sadr's militia is now virtually the only militia left in Iraq that still maintains an outlaw posture, the only one that still challenges the authority of the Iraqi Security Forces or the Coalition. (Other major militias have disbanded, transforming into political organizations and joining — or becoming — legitimate security forces, which explains why you never hear about any other militia in the news.)

Conservative: Romney 'unacceptable' as VP

Pardon my blunt but Paul Weyrick's an a$$. I saw Mitt Romney a few nights back and he was absolutely flawless. McCain's about as exciting as a piece of cold pizza, Romney would add a spark to the ticket that is sorely missing.

WASHINGTON, April 6 (UPI) -- A group of conservatives has taken out an ad urging presumptive Republican U.S. presidential nominee John McCain not to tap Mitt Romney as his running mate.

Paul Weyrich, co-founder of the Moral Majority, who once endorsed Romney, is among those calling on McCain to look beyond Romney, his former rival and past governor of Massachusetts, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Sen. Stabenow's Husband Nailed in Prostitution Bust

Liberals and prostitutes...birds of a feather.

Bad day for Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.). Her husband,Thomas Athans, cofounder of a liberal talk radio network, is cooperating with police in an Internet-based prostitution bust at hotels in Troy, Mich., according to the Detroit Free Press.

According to the paper, Athans told police he "paid a prostitute $150 for sex at a Troy hotel in late February." The story notes that Athans, 46, was not arrested or charged.

Stabenow, 57, released a short statement today saying, "This is very disturbing and serious. Obviously it's a deeply difficult and personal matter."

THOMPSON VISITING MCCAIN THIS WEEKEND

Sounds social but who knows.

NBC and National Journal have learned that former presidential candidate Fred Thompson is visiting GOP nominee John McCain at McCain's Arizona cabin in Sedona this weekend.

No word of what's been discussed, although a source with knowledge of the visit says that the purpose may be more of a relaxing weekend getaway than a business meeting. (The two men have been longtime personal friends, even during their overlapping presidential bids.)

Thompson endorsed McCain after ending his own run for the GOP nomination.

Sonny Bono 'assassinated by hitmen'

This is the third time I've seen this reported so what the hey....

SONNY Bono, former husband and singing partner of superstar Cher, was clubbed to death by hitmen on the orders of drug and weapons dealers, an ex-FBI agent claims.

Ted Gunderson, now a private investigator, has told the US Globe tabloid that Bono, who served as mayor of Palm Springs for four years, did not die after hitting a tree on a Nevada ski slope in January 1998 as everyone believed.

"It's nonsense for anyone to now try to suggest that Bono died after crashing into a tree. There's zero evidence in this autopsy report... to show such an accident happened. Instead, there's powerful proof he was assassinated.

"This was an evil plot that was carried out to almost perfection by ruthless assassins," Mr Gunderson told the paper.

Global warming 'dips this year'

Global temperatures will drop slightly this year as a result of the cooling effect of the La Nina current in the Pacific, UN meteorologists have said.

The World Meteorological Organization's secretary-general, Michel Jarraud, told the BBC it was likely that La Nina would continue into the summer.

This would mean global temperatures have not risen since 1998, prompting some to question climate change theory.

AA Host Suspended " Hillary's a Whore"

Takes one to know one...

Randi Rhodes, an afternoon host for the progressive Air America radio network, was suspended Thursday after repeatedly insulting Hillary Rodham Clinton at an event last month. Ms. Rhodes used vulgar language that likened Ms. Clinton to a prostitute at an event sponsored by KKGN, the Air America affiliate in the San Francisco area, on March 22. A video of Ms. Rhodes’ remarks was published to the video-sharing Web site YouTube on Tuesday, prompting condemnations by some bloggers.

Another Obama Deception: "I don’t take money from oil companies."

Semantics...

In a new ad, Obama says, "I don’t take money from oil companies."

Technically, that's true, since a law that has been on the books for more than a century prohibits corporations from giving money directly to any federal candidate. ... We find the statement misleading:

Obama has accepted more than $213,000 from individuals who work for companies in the oil and gas industry and their spouses.

Two of Obama's bundlers are top executives at oil companies and are listed on his Web site as raising between $50,000 and $100,000 for the presidential hopeful.

Dems Don’t Want Clinton to Be Obama’s No. 2, Poll Shows

Hmmmmm...

Democrats generally like the idea of Barack Obama joining Hillary Clinton’s ticket if she wins the nomination, but apparently cringe at the thought of Clinton tagging along with Obama should he be the nominee, according to a new Gallup poll out Tuesday.

The poll underscores the deep divide in the Democratic race, as the candidates continue to slug it out in the run-up to the April 22 Pennsylvania primary.

The Gallup poll, taken from March 24-27 of 502 Democrats and Democratic-leaning Independents, found 58 percent of those surveyed would want Obama to be the vice presidential candidate if Clinton wins the Democratic nomination. Forty-one percent would want the New York senator to pick someone else.

New Black Panther Party condemns 'white men,' 'Jews,' praises Barack

Deja vu all over again.

An anti-white and virulently anti-Semitic black supremacist party has once again endorsed Sen. Barack Obama on the presidential candidate's own website, WND has learned.

Following criticism earlier this month of an online endorsement from the New Black Panther Party, or NBPP, Obama's campaign removed the controversial organization from the presidential candidate's official website. The NBPP had been a registered team member and blogger on Obama's "MyObama" campaign site.

But the NBPP endorsement was reposted on Obama's official website today.

At a time when appearing mainstream should be the campaigns number one priority, they do the opposite. The first time could be explained away as oversight but this makes no sense at all.

Court Won't Rule on William Jefferson Search Case

Which means that an already murky relationship will not get any clearer in the forseable future.

The Supreme Court on Monday refused to step into a legal fight between the Justice Department and a member of Congress who has been indicted on bribery charges.

The court declined to review an appeals court ruling that the FBI reviewed legislative documents in the office of Rep. William Jefferson, D-La., in violation of the Constitution.

Jefferson has pleaded not guilty to charges of soliciting more than $500,000 in bribes while using his office to broker business deals in Africa. His trial has been delayed indefinitely.

Penn State Coach Joe Paterno Chooses to Not Greet Bill Clinton

Joe Da Man!

Penn State football coach Joe Paterno, a noted Republican, says he thought long and hard before deciding against greeting Bill Clinton when the former president visited campus on behalf of his wife's presidential campaign.

Bill Clinton pitched the Penn State ties of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton on Thursday during a stop in State College, reminding the mostly youthful audience that her father and brother both played football at Penn State.

In fact, brother Hugh Rodham, a 1972 graduate, was a backup quarterback under
Paterno.

We're fighting for survival, says Mahdi army commander (UPDATED)

A senior commander in the Mahdi army said today the militia was fighting a battle for survival in Basra against a rival Shia faction seeking to obliterate it ahead of September elections.

Fighting broke out in Basra on Tuesday when Iraqi government forces launched an offensive against Shia militia in the city. Overnight, US jets carried out air strikes in support of Iraqi forces in at least two locations.

Shiek Ali al-Sauidi, a prominent member of the Moqtada al-Sadr-led movement in Basra, said his men were being targeted not by the Iraqi government but by government militias loyal to the rival Supreme Islamic Council faction.

"They are a executing a very well drawn plan. They are trying to exterminate the Sadrists and cut and isolate the movement before the September local elections," he said in a telephone interview with the Guardian.

Perhaps they should join RW in a bonghit.

Iraqi Shia Cleric Moqtada Sadr Orders Fighters Off Streets

Baghdad, Iraq (AHN) - In a surprise move Iraqi Shia cleric Moqtada Sadr on Sunday ordered his fighters off the streets of Basra and other cities in Iraq.

Sadr said in a statement that his movement wanted the Iraqi people to stop the bloodshed and for Iraq to maintain its independence and stability. He had previously defied the Iraqi government's deadline to turn weapons in for cash.

Hate America or Lose 'Black Vote'

Ain't it the truth.

On Friday, March 28th, Barack Obama made his latest stab at explaining away why he spent 20 years as a comfortable member of the volatile and racist Trinity United Church of Christ on the south side of Chicago. This was the church where Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Jr. bellowed sermons filled with hate for whites and the United States of America as well as a church that published anti-Jew, pro Hamas terrorist articles in church newsletters. And, like all Obama's other "explanations on this matter" this one leaves a lot to be desired.

This time, Obama tried his best to make us believe that he would have quit the church over Rev. Wright's racist, hate filled rants if the good Rev. hadn't retired first – even though it was only a year ago. In an excerpt from an upcoming interview CNN reports that Obama earnestly hoped to assure America that Wright's rhetoric was "outrageously wrong" and that his brand of “religion” would have caused Barack to quit the church had it continued.

The problem is, when you look at what Barack really said, it does not assure us that he would have left the church over Wright's obscenities any more than a child caught with his hand in a cookie jar could be believed should he say that it was the last time he intended to steal a cookie. It's easy to claim what you would have done after being caught at something. But the proof is in the pudding as history shows what was really done. Barack didn't leave the church over Wright or anything else. He sat in that congregation with his wife and children nodding his head and saying "Amen" to Wright's 20 some years of railing against the United States.

Nifong would have prosecuted...

Arthur Cradock, 48, from the South Island town of Motueka, called police last month to tell them he was being raped by the marsupial at his home and needed urgent assistance.

Cradock, an orchard worker, later called back to reassure the police operator that he was all right.

"I’ll retract the rape complaint from the wombat, because he’s pulled out. Apart from speaking Australian now, I’m pretty all right you know. I didn’t hurt my bum at all."

Woman Who Sat on Toilet for Two Years Still 'Very Sick'

Too many quips to even contemplate...

A woman who may have spent nearly two years in a bathroom, sitting on the toilet so long that the seat adhered to sores on her body, remains hospitalized and in pain from medical procedures, family members said Wednesday.

Pam Babcock, 35, was found stuck to the toilet in late February after her boyfriend, Kory McFarren, 37, called authorities to say something was wrong with her. Police believe she sat on the toilet for about a month.

Israel tells Jimmy Carter: Your 'help' is not welcome

Israel this week issued a formal rejection of a recent offer by former US President Jimmy Carter and former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan to mediate a ceasefire between the Jewish state and the Hamas rulers of the Gaza Strip.

Carter and Annan sent their proposal to Israel several weeks ago, and noted that South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu and former Irish President Mary Robinson would also be part of the mediation team.

Carter, Annan, Tutu and Robinson have for decades been among the foremost international critics of Israel's right to defend itself against Arab Muslim terrorism and have regularly lent credibility to groups like Hamas that openly reject the Jewish state's very right to exist.

Amazing what an increasing strong and well trained army can do for your confidence.

BASRA, Iraq (AP) — Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is promising to pursue his fight against Shiite militias in Basra to "the end."

Al-Maliki made his pledge to Basra area tribal leaders Thursday as military operations against the militias continued for a fourth day despite stiff resistance.

Al-Maliki told the leaders "we have made up our minds" to enter the fight "and we will continue until the end. No retreat."

Tens of thousands of Shiites took to Baghdad's streets to protest the government crackdown on militias.

Man Shooting Hole Through Wall Kills Wife

Darwin Award winner for this week.

DEEPWATER, Mo. -- Officials were trying Tuesday to decide whether to file charges against a Missouri man who fatally shot his wife while trying to install a satellite TV system in the bedroom of their home.

Patsy Long, 34, of Deepwater, died after being shot in the chest with a .22-caliber handgun on Saturday. Her husband, Ronald Long, fired the shot from the inside of their home after several unsuccessful efforts to punch a hole through the exterior wall using other means.

Henry County sheriff's deputies said the woman was hit by the second of two shots fired by her husband.

Gallup Poll indicates if the race is McCain-Obama, 28% of Clinton supporters would vote for McCain

Interesting...

If McCain vs. Obama, 28% of Clinton Backers Go for McCainIf McCain vs. Clinton, 19% of Obama backers go for McCainUSA Democrats Election 2008 Government and Politics Americas Northern America by Frank Newport PRINCETON, NJ -- A sizable proportion of Democrats would vote for John McCain next November if he is matched against the candidate they do not support for the Democratic nomination. This is particularly true for Hillary Clinton supporters, more than a quarter of whom currently say they would vote for McCain if Barack Obama is the Democratic nominee.

These conclusions are based on an analysis of Democratic voters' responses to separate voting questions in March 7-22 Gallup Poll Daily election tracking. In each day's survey, respondents are asked for their general election preferences in McCain-Clinton and McCain-Obama pairings. Democratic voters are then asked whom they support for their party's nomination

Congressional Performance Congress: 13% Good/ Excellent, 43% Poor

Yikes.

Just 13% of Likely Voters now say Congress is doing a good or excellent job. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 43% give Congress a poor rating.

Those results represent a slight decrease from last month, when 15% gave Congress a good or excellent rating.

Not surprisingly, Republican voters hold a negative view of Congress. Over half (56%) of Republicans give Congress a poor rating, and only 12% give it a good or excellent rating. Among Democrats, the reviews are decidedly mixed--only 28% give Congress poor ratings while 17% say the legislators are doing a good or excellent job.

Among unaffiliated voters, only 11% rate Congressional performance as good or excellent, while 47% say poor.

Supreme Court Sides With Texas in Dispute With Bush Over Mexican's Death Row Case

It's just sooooo refreshing when the judiciary exhibits restraint and hints of Federalism.

WASHINGTON — President Bush overstepped his authority when he ordered a Texas court to grant a new hearing to a Mexican on death row for rape and murder, the Supreme Court said Tuesday.

In a case that mixes presidential power, international relations and the death penalty, the court sided with Texas 6-3.

Bush was in the unusual position of siding with death row prisoner Jose Ernesto Medellin, a Mexican citizen whom police prevented from consulting with Mexican diplomats, as provided by international treaty.

No Carville Apology for Judas Remark

It doesn't happen very often (probably never untill now) but I have to agree with Carville. Richardson owes everything he is or ever will be to Clintonista's and turning on them now is the absolute definition of an ingrate.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Hillary Rodham Clinton adviser James Carville is refusing to apologize for comparing New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson to Judas.

Carville made the comparison to The New York Times after Richardson, once a member of former President Bill Clinton's Cabinet, endorsed Clinton rival Barack Obama last week for the Democratic presidential nomination. Carville called it an "act of betrayal," and pointed out that it came around Holy Week.

"Mr. Richardson's endorsement came right around the anniversary of the day when Judas sold out (Jesus) for 30 pieces of silver, so I think the timing is appropriate, if ironic," he said.

Richardson told "Fox News Sunday" over the weekend that he wouldn't respond by getting "in the gutter like that."

Iran 'behind Green Zone attack'

Surprise surprise...

The most senior US general in Iraq has said he has evidence that Iran was behind Sunday's bombardment of Baghdad's heavily fortified Green Zone. Gen David Petraeus told the BBC he thought Tehran had trained, equipped and funded insurgents who fired the barrage of mortars and rockets.

He said Iran was adding what he described as "lethal accelerants" to a very combustible mix.

Obama's pastor 'crucified' just like Jesus by Romans

They don't make sh!t boots high enough....

The new pastor at Barack Obama's church says his predecessor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, was in a sense crucified just like Jesus Christ at the hands of the Romans. According to Fox News, Rev. Otis Moss III titled his Easter sunrise sermon "How to Handle a Public Lynching," focusing mainly on the media firestorm over the Chicago church attended by the Democratic presidential candidate. Moss reportedly did not specify Wright by name, but told the congregation at Trinity United Church of Christ that Wright, who has delivered sermons in which he likened the U.S. to the Ku Klux Klan and saying it is damned for its state-sponsored terrorism, is facing the same challenges Jesus did.

"Grandma Is Typical White Person"

Are you a typical white person?

Barack Obama says his grandmother is a typical white person, which in his words, means that if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know, she gets scared. He then explains that is the nature of race in our society.

Virginian Pilot Editors: To Paraphrase Obama = "Typical White Liberals"

Barack Obama was asked about his use of his white grandmother as an example of white racism. He replied

"The point I was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn't. But she is a typical white person who, uh, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know there's a reaction that's been been bred into our experiences that don't go away and that sometimes come out in the wrong way and that's just the nature of race in our society."

Obama shamelessly uses his grandmother and compares her to the racist rants of J. Wright.

Video of the day

The video that got the McCain staffer suspended is here. Unfortunately for the staffer its way too accurate.

Bill Richardson endorses Obama

WOW! Major beastslap.

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, the nation’s only Hispanic governor, is endorsing Sen. Barack Obama for president, calling him a “once-in-a- lifetime leader” who can unite the nation and restore America’s international leadership. Richardson, who dropped out of the Democratic race in January, is to appear with Obama on Friday at a campaign event in Portland, Ore., The Associated Press has learned.

The governor’s endorsement comes as Obama leads among delegates selected at primaries and caucuses but with national public opinion polling showing Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton pulling ahead of him amid controversy over statements by his former pastor.

Gov. Paterson says he may have used campaign cash for hotel hookup

Gov. Paterson admitted Wednesday he may have improperly billed his campaign for at least one hotel tryst with a girlfriend.

The hotel tryst was apparently listed as "constituent services."

A Daily News review found that in a handful of other campaign expenditures, Paterson may have used campaign funds to cover personal expenses and misstated their purpose in public disclosure forms.

The records also show he made reimbursements, but he acknowledged he may have failed to pony up in one instance.

Rare common sense from the bench.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The owner of a famous cheesesteak shop did not discriminate when he posted signs asking customers to speak English, a city panel ruled Wednesday.

Obama Web Site Still Carries New Black Panther Party Endorsement

Has this campaign got a death wish???

One day after Barack Obama delivered a speech calling for improved race relations in America, the blogosphere was buzzing Wednesday about whether his campaign planned to remove an endorsement by the New Black Panther Party from his Web site.

The New Black Panthers, who inherited their name from the Black Panther Party of the 1960s, has a page on the Obama campaign’s public forums that says it is backing Obama because he “represents ‘positive change’ for all of America. Obama will stir the ‘Melting Pot’ into a better ‘Molten America,’” the group says.

The NBPP, which has been led since 2001 by Malik Zulu Shabbazz, is identified by the Southern Poverty Law Center, a tolerance education organization, as an extremist hate group. The Anti-Defamation League calls NBPP “the largest organized anti-Semitic black militant group in America. … Under Shabazz, the group continues to organize demonstrations across the country that blend inflammatory bigotry with calls for black empowerment and civil rights.”

Texas Divinity School Will Honor Obama’s Controversial Pastor

Of all the terrific black religious leaders to choose from these imbeciles choose a self righteous, America/whitey loathing victimology pimp like this clown, unbelievable.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Controversy surrounding Barack Obama’s longtime minister is not deterring a Texas divinity school from honoring the Rev. Jeremiah Wright at a ceremony later this month.

But Texas Christian University, the campus where Brite Divinity School is located, issued a statement Monday opposing that decision in light of video that shows Wright delivering racially tinged sermons and him railing against the United States.

Wright is to be honored March 29 at the Black Church Summit and Awards Banquet, a $125-per-person banquet at the divinity school. Despite being on the TCU campus, Brite is a separate school with its own officers and board.

Poll suggests Iraqis 'optimistic'

Hmmmmm

More than 50% of Iraqis think their lives are good, more than at any time in the last three years, a survey says.

The poll for the BBC, ABC, ARD and NHK of more than 2,000 people also suggests that a majority believe that security in their area has improved since 2007.

And while most Iraqis still believe US troops are making things worse, the number who want the Americans to pull out immediately has fallen.

John McCain Pulls Ahead in Ohio: Leads Both Obama and Clinton"

You win Ohio or you don't win.

What happens if the presidential election comes down to the state of Ohio again this November, just like in 2004? Democrats seem stumped in the south, and Florida might be completely out of the running. As weak as the Republican Party is at this point in history, it hasn't seemed to translate to John McCain.

It appears that he may have bucked the Republican Party enough that he seems to come off as just clean enough in the minds of many voters that are fed up with the GOP. Add to that the fact at least half the country despises Hillary Clinton and now Barack Obama is being slammed with scandals.

In one recent Florida poll Obama trails McCain by 16 points in Florida. Sixteen points! Hillary won't win Florida either. That means we may be right back to the 2004 scenario of Ohio, Pennsylvania and Missouri being the key to the 2008 election. Missouri will likely go to McCain no matter which Democratic candidate he runs against.

Obama Nose Dives

Ruh Roh...

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton essentially even in the race for the Democratic Presidential Nomination.

It’s Obama 46% Clinton 45% (see recent daily results). This reflects an unusually sharp change from yesterday’s results when Obama led by eight points and reached the 50% level of support for the first time. Daily tracking results are collected via nightly telephone surveys and reported on a four-day rolling average basis. Last night’s results were very favorable for Clinton and it remains to be seen whether this marks a lasting change in the race or is merely statistical noise. Single night results are based upon very small samples and are more volatile than the overall tracking poll.

Military Captures High Value Detainee Muhammad Rahim, Alleged UBL Assistant

Hopefully he has been waterboarded on several occasions already.

WASHINGTON — The Pentagon says authorities have captured a high-level Al Qaeda figure who helped Usama bin Laden escape from Afghanistan in 2001.

Officials declined to say when or where Mohammad Rahim was captured — announcing only that he was handed over by the CIA to the Pentagon earlier this week and is being held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Defense Department spokesman Bryan Whitman says Rahim is a close associate of bin Laden and has ties to al-Qaida organizations throughout the Middle East

Climate panel on the hot seat

Good read.

To better understand this potential threat, the World Meteorological Organization and the United Nations created the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in 1988 to provide a "comprehensive, objective, scientific, technical and socioeconomic assessment of human-caused climate change, its potential impacts and options for adaptation and mitigation."

IPCC reports have predicted average world temperatures will increase dramatically, leading to the spread of tropical diseases, severe drought, the rapid melting of the world's glaciers and ice caps, and rising sea levels. However, several assessments of the IPCC's work have shown the techniques and methods used to derive its climate predictions are fundamentally flawed.

Hateful "black" rhetoric from the pulpit of blame whitey first....

Sen. Barack Obama's pastor says blacks should not sing "God Bless America" but "God damn America."

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama's pastor for the last 20 years at the Trinity United Church of Christ on Chicago's south side, has a long history of what even Obama's campaign aides concede is "inflammatory rhetoric," including the assertion that the United States brought on the 9/11 attacks with its own "terrorism."

In a campaign appearance earlier this month, Sen. Obama said, "I don't think my church is actually particularly controversial." He said Rev. Wright "is like an old uncle who says things I don't always agree with," telling a Jewish group that everyone has someone like that in their family.

Clinton campaign finance committee member, former vice presidential candidate, and former Rep. Spitzer Indicted, Likely to Resign?

Schadenfreude squared!

NEW YORK (CBS) ― Gov. Eliot Spitzer has been linked to a prostitution ring, the New York Times is reporting on its Web site. He is not expected to continue his term, multiple sources in the state Legislature tell CBS 2, setting off one of the largest scandals in modern New York state political history.

During a news conference Monday afternoon, Spitzer apologized to his family and public, but did not go as far as to explain why. "I must now dedicate some time to regain the trust of my family," he said in a brief statement along side his wife.

If he does in fact resign, Lt. Gov. David Paterson would be expected to take over as governor.

Bush and Polish PM hail progress on missile shield deal

With few exceptions Poland has proven to be a bold and unwavering ally in a strategic part of the world. Money well spent.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush said on Monday he had agreed the United States would help modernize the Polish military as part of a U.S. plan to base components of a global missile defense shield in Poland.

Bush's announcement, after White House talks with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, appeared to mark a major step toward meeting Poland's demand that Washington boost military aid in exchange for allowing the basing of 10 missile interceptors in Poland.

The media snowjob on global warming

Journalism again proves itself to be the antithesis of the scientific method.

Just how pervasive the bias at most news outlets is in favour of climate alarmism -- and how little interest most outlets have in reporting any research that diverges from the alarmist orthodoxy -- can be seen in a Washington Post story on the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC), announced last week in New York.

The NIPCC is a counter to the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, or IPCC. The group was unveiled this week in Manhattan at the 2008 International Conference on Climate Change, along with its scientific report claiming that natural factors -- the sun, El Ninos and La Ninas, volcanoes, etc, -- not human sources are behind global warming.

16,000 Republicans in Cuyahoga crossed over and voted Democratic in primary

What's good for the goose...

A staggering 16,000-plus Republicans in Cuyahoga County switched parties when they voted in last week's primary.

That includes 931 in Rocky River, 1,027 in Westlake and 1,142 in Strongsville. More than a third of the Republicans in Solon and Bay Village switched. Pepper Pike had the most dramatic change: just under half its Republicans became Democrats. And some of those who changed - it's difficult to say how many - could be in trouble with the law.

At least one member of the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections wants to investigate some Republicans who may have crossed party lines only to influence which Democrat would face presumed Republican nominee John McCain in November.

Bush vetoes bill banning waterboarding (more water)

Every once in awhile George Bush makes me remember why I voted for him.

WASHINGTON - President Bush said Saturday he vetoed legislation that would ban the CIA from using harsh interrogation methods such as waterboarding to break suspected terrorists because it would end practices that have prevented attacks.

"The bill Congress sent me would take away one of the most valuable tools in the war on terror," Bush said in his weekly radio address taped for broadcast Saturday. "So today I vetoed it," Bush said. The bill provides guidelines for intelligence activities for the year and includes the interrogation requirement. It passed the House in December and the Senate last month.

"This is no time for Congress to abandon practices that have a proven track record of keeping America safe," the president said.

Let’s hope the new owners can recapture the vision and stop reporting the traffic, telling us what to think and start giving us useful weather information.”

He's also ordered the Venezuelan embassy in Bogota closed and say all embassy personnel will be withdrawn from Colombia.

Only 38% of Dems claim excellent mental health

I am surpised it's actually that high.

While 58 percent of Republicans reported having excellent mental health, only 38 percent of Democrats described themselves that way.

The study was no surprise to D. Lyle H. Rossiter, Jr., a noted psychiatrist and author of a controversial book that makes the clinical case liberalism is a mental illness.

"Based on strikingly irrational beliefs and emotions, modern liberals relentlessly undermine the most important principles on which our freedoms were founded," says Dr. Lyle Rossiter, author of the new book, "The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness." "Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave."
